Essential hypertension is in patients below the age of “40″ years more common in males than females. The most important causes are

Endocrine causes of secondary hypertension are:
1-Acromegaly. 2-Cushing’s Syndrome.

3-Pheochromocytoma.

Cardiovascular causes are:

1-Coarctation of aorta. 2-Myocardial Infarction. 3-Middle aortic syndrome.

Cerebral causes are:

1-Increased intracranial pressure. 2-Encephacitis. 3-Cerebral Trauma.

Toxic causes are:

1-Pregnancy Toxemia. 2-Steroids. 3-Oral Contraceptives. 4-Lead.

Blood Causes are:

1-Anemia. 2- Polycythemia Vera.
